Temporary fuel surcharge
Due to the current situation in the Middle East, bpost is introducing a temporary fuel surcharge, which will apply from May 1, 2026.
The surcharge is activated when the average monthly price of diesel in Belgium exceeds €1.80/L. In that case, a surcharge is applied based on the average diesel price of the previous month, as published by the European Commission. This mechanism allows bpost to adjust the rates in a transparent manner to the evolution of energy costs.
This surcharge is temporary and will evolve depending on market conditions. It is automatically adjusted, both upwards and downwards, according to the evolution of the diesel price.
*Taking into account the publication dates of the prices in the Weekly Oil Bulletin (https://energy.ec.europa.eu/data-and-analysis/weekly-oil-bulletin_en), the average diesel price in Belgium, including taxes, for the month of March will serve as the basis for determing the fuel surcharge for the month of May (and so on for subsequent months).
